The trip to this lovely village starts at Bariloche's Civic Center, heading along Avenida 12 de Octubre that connects with National Route N º 237 to the NE alongside Lake Nahuel Huapi. At kilometer 21 you take the left fork along National Route Nº 231that leads you directly to Villa La Angostura. When you get to kilometer 81 you will be at this major tourism spot surrounded by beautiful native forests. This route is all paved and has a beautiful view of Lake Nahuel Huapi all along the way.
Once there, one of the first strolls one should take through the city is the sightseeing tour of local architecture, which is well reflected in the Asunción Chapel, built by Alejandro Bustillo, one of the four religious buildings specially designed for Nahuel Huapi National Park (including Llao Llao, Villa Catedral and San Carlos de Bariloche Cathedral), it is a stone and log construction with larch wood roof tiles in a natural araucaria forest woodland setting. Another magnificent building created by Alejandro Bustillo is the Messidor residence, that in 1964 it was ceded to the Neuquén provincial government to become the official residence of the province's governor and to be sporadically used as a guest house for distinguished visitors.
Bahia Manzano, the Correntoso River (which connects lakes Correntoso and Nahuel Huapi and is considered to be the world's shortest river), and the area that surrounds it, along with the port are places you can’t miss.
As an optional you can visit Mt Bayo, an Alpine skiing resort created in the mid-seventies that currently offer year-round attractions: ski runs in winter, and wonderful panoramic views at other times of the year.
Another optional is the lake excursion from Puerto Angostura (Bahia Mansa or Bahia Brava) to Peninsula Quetrihue where you can visit the Arrayanes Forest. The latter is a unique curiosity in the world, with its cinnamon-hued trees.
You can get there in a tour or driving your own car
