On the East border of the Nahuel Huapi Lake, just 15 km away from San Carlos de Bariloche, by highway 237 and then 1 km on highway 23 lays the entrance to Cerro Leones Park.
A guided visit to this majestic rocky bastion, that covers a distance of 800 meters through paths and trails, takes us to the top of this old volcano where we can admire a 360º panoramic view. In the way we can see three ancient caverns, one of them 30 meters wide 130 meters long.
For nearly two and a half hours visitors experience the illusion of being travelling through time. The magic of the environment surrounds us while the guide explains the historical, cultural and geological features of the place, in addition to the zoological and botanical characteristics.
During the tour you can see cave paintings of more than 1000 years old.
The highlight of the tour is the visit to the third cavern. The cave leads inwards and inwards until you reach a small lagoon inside the cave.
This place was home, for over 8.000 years, to the first inhabitants of the region.
The caverns remain something of an enigma with the cave paintings on the outside. The climbing between rock bridges and footbridges is also an adventure worth taking.
