Distance: 3,10 miles from “Estación “Inferior”
There are different ways to get to the Estacion inferior of the Cerro Otto Cable Car
1º Taking De Los Pioneros Avenue and Sara María Furman st., only 5 kilometers away from Bariloche, you get to the base of Cerro Otto. At this point there is a cable car that takes tourists to the revolving tearoom/café.
2º There is also a free shuttle service available from town to the cable car station and back (bus stops at the corner of Mitre and Villegas and Pagano and San Martin streets, opposite the National Parks Superintendence building),departing at different times.
3º By public bus (“3 de Mayo” lines 50 and 51)
You can drive to the top of Cerro Otto, taking the slightly winding road leading up from Km 1 of Avenida de los Pioneros to Piedras Blancas Winter Complex (5 km). A little farther up, you get to the Nordic Ski Center and Refugio Berghoff, a Municipal Historical Site. Drive another 3 km along a narrow mountain road to the upper parking area of the Cable Car Complex, from which you can get to the Revolving Tearoom/Snack Bar.
Don’t forget to check out the road conditions before heading out. In winter season, always carry chains or snow tires.
The cable car transports 500 people an hour and travels 1,250 miles to “Estacion Superior”, at 1.405 meters above sea level, at a regular speed of 3 meters/second, both in descent and ascent. The tourist enjoys the trip completely protected against weather conditions, as the 42 compartments are closed and built on a steel frame, covered with polyester fiber and glazed with Plexiglas.
The ticket includes the ride up in the cable car with panoramic windows, which takes 12 minutes to the top, and access to the complex where the snack bar rotates 360º every 20 minutes, providing magnificent views of the surroundings.
Visit the surprising Art Gallery where replicas of Michelangelo’s David, Pietà and Moses, made by Pietro Bazzanti Art Gallery in Florence, Italy are exhibited.
Nature lovers will find countless activities to make their day unique at the Cerro Otto Cable Car Tourist Complex. In winter there are 3 bobsled slopes of varying difficulty and guided snowshoeing tours.
