Distance: 5 miles away from downtown:
Otto Meiling, the pioneer of Argentine Andean mountain climbing in Argentina, built the Refugio Berghof on Cerro Otto. It is one of seven mountain cabins (refugios) operated by the Club Andino, and was declared Municipal Heritage.
The refugios provide a haven for hikers, climbers and cross-country skiers across the region and provide with delicious home made meals. The large fire inside welcomes visitors to this magic place, where you can admire the views of the surrounding landscape and learn about the history of the ski in Argentina, with pictures that show the first ski factory created by Otto Meiling, also founder of Club Andino Bariloche.
